So here it is. Don't get me wrong, I'ma buy one of course, though I can't help feeling that Apple left a bit of a hole in a device where one of the key uses is content creation.

That is, you can't communicate with the iPad. There's no iChat or other Apple-supplied (that is, can run in the background) chat app, at least not yet. 

Example: I'm at the airport putting the finishing touches on a document, and need some information from a teammate back at the office. I don't want to juggle my phone with the iPad on my lap. Ideally I could have some sort of "background" AIM interface going so that I could collaborate on said document with various folks.

Bummer? Sure. Dealbreaker? Naw. While I echo Andy Ihnatko's sentiment of "underwhelmed by the lack of unexpected fresh new," and personally w/r/t text entry, it looks like there's plenty of room to grow.
