Translation of RIM's Response to "Open Letter"...
Per the official BlackBerry Blog:
An “Open Letter” to RIM’s senior management was published anonymously on the web today and it was attributed to an unnamed person described as a “high level employee”.
We’ve started looking for the person who publicly blasted us on the web.
It is obviously difficult to address anonymous commentary and it is particularly difficult to believe that a...

A Measured Treatise on the Value Proposition of...
The tech press is being way to kind on RIM’s PlayBook. Go Google for some reviews if you must, but stick around if you want it straight.
Now there’s no way to write this without comparing a bit to the iPad, as let’s be honest, there’s no tablet market without it. None. If you think otherwise well, I’ve got a car that is powered solely on misguided hopes and dreams...

Sony Move, Bitch, Get Out The Way
Brought home Killzone 3 for PS3 today, and it finally hit just how bad the PS3 “experience” is compared to every other goddamn gaming device out there.
New game for the Xbox 360? Insert disc, press a button, if there’s an update tell it OK, and play. (Okay, I usually install the game to the hard drive first, too.)
New game for iOS? Download, tap, and play.
New game for Wii?...

Get Away From Me With Your Freedom Bullshit
Someone’s always bitching about Apple and “control.”
Get the fuck out.
Think about all the things in your life that you need to have control over. Pick a tough one. Wouldn’t it be nice to not be in control? That’s one of the big reasons the iPhone is fucking everywhere.
So you can’t meticulously manage running processes. So you can’t expand the big...

The Fundraiser
The latest episode of The Boondocks was hysterical. Watch it online here at Adult Swim.
People call me The Fundraiser. They call me that ‘cause that’s what I do. I raise funds.
I get my money up.
The first rule of fundraising is, don’t give nothing to nobody. Period.
No charities, no homeless people, Salvation Army Red Cross starving Africans, nothing. You cant be raising...

To further pimp Twelve South…
Seriously, no one makes a Mac accessory like the folks at Twelve South. Using a BookArc for my MacBook Pro and iPad. Highest recommendation.
(Also for design geeks, probably the only company outside of Apple to put genuine thought into their product packaging.)

The day where Jesus was resurrected as a bunny...
Hmm… the day Jesus rose from the dead and gave chocolate to all the little boys and girls?
Wait that’s not it.
When in doubt I usually refer to what Eddie Izzard has to say on the subject.
Jesus, I do think, did exist, and he was a guy who had interesting ideas in the Gandhi-type area, in the Nelson Mandela-type area - relaxed and groovy.
And the Romans thought, “Relaxed and...

IBM Dictation vs. Airplane
Relevant to the recent situation regarding a flight out of New York being diverted due to a Jewish teenager praying, Gene Gaines shares an addition regarding the use of an IBM dictation machine on a flight to Los Angeles. Via IP:
Years ago.IBM came out with a portable dictating machine. Before little tapes, this thing used a magnetic belt maybe 4 inches wide. Great machine. A couple of batteries...

A Ridiculous Failure of Critical Infrastructure
Since you won’t find this reported anywhere in the news (from the current looks of it), it’s left to folks on the ground to figure things out.
Via IP, of course, writes Matt Larsen of Vistabeam (emphasis mine):
Some kind of combination of failure between Charter and Qwest has left tens of thousands of people in Nebraska without Internet and has disrupted the Internet and phone...

Full Circle Bar
Full Circle Bar in Brooklyn is the national home of Brewskee-Ball, the first competitive Skee-Ball league. The entire place integrates bit of old Skee-Ball machines - the bar is a lane & coin insert, the lights are covered with cage metal. An awesome place to grab a drink, hot dog and a game.

A cachapa is a sammich made with two pressed sweet corn cakes, filled with lettuce, tomato, light spiced cream sauce, and of course a healthy dose of either pernil, chorizo, chicken, etc.
